S is for Safflower oil for nourished scalp and moisturised hair

Did you know that not all the oils that you use on your skin and hair are easily or able to penetrate into the skin and hair to benefit from the nutrients that they contain? As well as Coconut oil, SAFFLOWER oil is one of the oils that actually has small enough molecules to penetrate the scalp and hair. Safflower oils is extracted from the seeds of the safflower plant which is a member of the Sunflower family.

There are two varying types of Safflower oil that are both used for different purposes; Monounsaturated oil, as it is heat stable is typically used in cooking and  is high in Oleic acid and Polyunsaturated oil, which we are concerned with for nourishing hair and scalp. The Safflower Polyunsaturated oil containing high levels of linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acids), which when applied to the scalp it nourishes the hair follicles, can stimulated blood circulation resulted in fuller healthier hair and moisturises the hair and skin. As Safflower oil has great moisturising properties, it is an excellent oil for natural hair that suffers from extreme dryness and chemically treated hair.

Want to try Safflower oil for yourself? Look out for cold press (Polyunsaturated) on the label, that’s the good stuff packed full of nutrients.

I’ve meaning to use that on my scalp for a while now. Certain areas of my head tend to be more drier than other parts particularly the front.
